Human Design Energy Types: The Manifesting Generator

Technically, there are only four energy types: Manifestor, Generator, Projector, and Reflector.

A lot of confusion has been created by the unique treatment afforded to Manifesting Generators as a sub-type of the Generator aura. Most likely, this was done to support Manifesting Generators in their deconditioning process so they could see more clearly the Not Self habits and consequences of initiating instead of waiting to respond.

Manifesting Generators are a powerful combination of the Manifestor’s defined Throat and the Generator’s defined Sacral, which creates some confusion for them in terms of how to properly use their energy.

In spite of having a powerful voice and the ability to quickly transform ideas into action, the energy of Manifesting Generators is designed to operate in response to life before taking action or initiating anything. (This is what makes them a “Generator,” technically.) Their response is a protective mechanism that says “you have energy for this,” or “you don’t have energy for this,” or “you don't have energy for this right now.”

The Manifesting Generator is often misunderstood and can be labeled “flaky” for “not sticking with things.” The Manifesting Generator is usually juggling a number of different interests and projects simultaneously — it’s how they learn and grow and sparkle. This is their true nature and the social conditioning and criticism to just “pick something and stick with it” can be really brutal, morally defeating, and difficult to recover from while deconditioning.
